    The Piano Pod is a podcast, media platform, and live event series exploring the people, ideas, and stories shaping the world of piano and concert music today.

    Created and hosted by pianist and educator Yukimi Song, The Piano Pod goes beyond traditional artist interviews to explore creativity, identity, education, culture, career paths, and the experiences that shape an artist’s work.

    Since launching in 2020, The Piano Pod has brought together pianists, composers, educators, entrepreneurs, and other voices through long-form conversations, video storytelling, and live events that combine performance, dialogue, and audience connection.

    At its heart, The Piano Pod is about people—and the stories behind the music.

    • Season 7: Culture & Courage

    Season 7 of The Piano Pod explores Culture & Courage—how artists are shaped by where they come from, what they inherit, what they question, and the choices they make in building a life in music.

    Through conversations with pianists, composers, educators, cultural leaders, and other creative voices, this season looks beyond career milestones and performance alone. We’ll talk about identity, artistic conviction, cultural inheritance, belonging, risk, reinvention, and what it takes to follow a path that may not fit the expected mold.

    After six seasons and more than 100 long-form conversations, The Piano Pod is also entering a new chapter. Season 7 will feature fewer full-length episodes, with a greater emphasis on storytelling, depth, and carefully shaped conversations.

    Season 7 begins this fall.

    About Yukimi Song

     

    Yukimi Song is a Zainichi Korean American pianist, educator, researcher, producer, and the creator and host of The Piano Pod.

    Her work brings together performance, education, media, and storytelling, with a particular interest in the people, ideas, and cultural forces shaping how we understand and experience concert music today.

    She is also the founder of the Zainichi Music Project, an interdisciplinary initiative exploring Zainichi Korean history, identity, and memory through music, research, and dialogue.
