  • What Is The Piano Pod?

Since 2020, The Piano Pod has been a biweekly podcast and YouTube show that delves into the stories and philosophies of classical music’s most compelling figures. From world-renowned pianists to educators, composers, and entrepreneurs, we spotlight the movers and shakers redefining what classical music means today.

Our mission is simple: to bridge the gap between classical musicians and modern audiences through engaging, authentic conversations.

This journey began with a question I’ve reflected on since 2007:

“How can we present the beautiful tradition of classical music to a 21st-century audience in an engaging, contemporary way?”

The Piano Pod was born to explore how classical music can evolve, connect, and inspire.

But we are more than just a podcast. While it started as a digital platform, The Piano Pod is growing into a global hub for classical music—expanding into live events and new initiatives that bring musicians and audiences together in fresh and exciting ways.

    Season 5: Authenticity and Joy

Now in its fifth season, The Piano Pod focuses on two themes that deeply resonate with both our audience and guests: authenticity and joy.

At the end of every episode, I ask our guests: What positive qualities do you look for in others? The most frequent response? Authenticity. This made me reflect: what does it mean to live authentically as pianists today, and how does embracing authenticity bring joy into our lives and art?

This season dives into these questions, exploring how musicians embrace their individuality while navigating their careers and celebrating the joy of meaningful connections with audiences. Each episode brings heartfelt conversations and fresh perspectives on these intertwined themes.

We kicked off Season 5 in September 2024 with the remarkable Dr. Sara Davis Buechner, a perfect guest to embody these themes of joy and authenticity. This and the following episodes of Season 5 are now available on YouTube and all major podcast platforms—don’t miss these inspiring conversations!

    What’s New This Season?

This season, we’ve introduced an exciting sponsorship initiative to spotlight organizations significantly impacting classical music and education. Each month, we feature an organization as our official sponsor, providing them a platform to share their mission and achievements.

About the Founder and Executive Producer

As the creator and executive producer of The Piano Pod, I bring decades of experience as a classical pianist, educator, and content creator. My journey as an artist and creative has been guided by a deep passion for music-making, education, cultural connection, and the transformative power of classical music.

I began my professional career as a full-time college piano faculty member, dedicating six years to intensive teaching and mentoring. This foundation led me to establish Yukimi Song Studio LLC in 2007, a thriving, multi-award-winning piano studio originally based in Manhattan and now in Brooklyn. I’ve mentored students who have won top international competitions, composed original works, and built successful careers as artists and performers, gaining recognition for their unique voices in the music industry. These experiences highlighted the challenges of connecting classical music with modern audiences and inspired me to create The Piano Pod as a platform to bridge this gap.

As a concert pianist, I have performed at prestigious venues such as Weill Recital Hall, Riverside Church, and Tokyo’s Toyosu Cultural Center, sharing the music I love with audiences worldwide. Performing is at the core of who I am, as I strive to honor the masterpieces of the past while championing the works of the present. This passion brings depth and perspective to my work on The Piano Pod.

Through this platform, I aim to foster authenticity, joy, and curiosity as we explore how classical music can evolve to inspire future generations—bridging tradition and innovation to ensure its place in the 21st-century cultural landscape.
